It is a pleasure to work for yourself. More than the financial rewards are the rewards of freedom. Having been an employee myself in the past, I learnt what I should not do to an employee. Now that I opened my own practice in August 2000, I hope I treat every fellow physician with respect, dignity and appreciation for whatever they do. More than anything, I hope I have the courage to offer them freedom to go open their own little dream practice or on the other hand offer them so much that they never want to leave me and go. Unfortunately the business of medicine is cruel. The reward system is stupid and was devised by a surgeon who I feel did not know the value of intelligent thought process. It is a system where the carpenter makes more than the architect. In the following pages, you will get an outline of what I did to open my
