Recognize the response of cardiac murmurs to physical maneuvers.

 

Explanation:

Here we shall learn about HOCM and MVP - both of whose murmurs get louder on Valsalva (because the LV volume decreases and  in HOCM the LV outflow tract becomes narrower whereas in MVP the chordae tendinae get even more lax and  cannot hold the MV leaflets from prolapsing)

They can be best differentiated by hand grip which intensifies MVP but softens HOCM.
