Management of an acute Upper GI bleed

Explanation:

Large bore IV's, fluid/blood resuscitation, correction of coagulopathy if necessary and then urgent endoscopy. Endoscopic appearance and success of therapy dictates prognosis. If one sees a bleeding vessel at the base of the ulcer, one has to intervene. The risk of  rebleeding in such patients is high.
