Explanation:

Morton’s Neuroma

A painful condition caused by compression of the digital nerves in the intermetatarsal spaces.

Most common site - 3rd web space (lateral branch of medial plantar nerve).

Chronic impingement leads to neuroma formation with pain and burning on weight bearing. More common in women.

Treatment - metatarsal arch support or surgical resection of the entrapped nerve or release of the transverse metatarsal ligament.
