Management of aplastic anemia

Explanation

Aplastic anemia in patient <45 yr age is best managed with a bone marrow transplant. For this reason keep blood transfusions to a minimum & avoid transfusions from family members in such candidates because they are good candidates for donating bone marrow to the patient (and if patient has already been exposed to the donor's blood, patient may develop antibodies against donor tissue and be unsuitable for receiving donor's bone marrow)

In others - Supportive treatment (transfusions), anti-thymocyte globulin and cyclosporin are used.
