Oral candidiasis (thrush)

In a patient like this the differential diagnosis includes candida or leukoplakia. The history in this patient was that of a few days supporting an infective rather than a malignant/premalignant process. The patient was treated with a single 200 mg dose of Fluconazole and 5 days later she was better.
Underlying immunodeficiencies to be looked for include Diabetes mellitus, HIV and rarely hyperparathyroidism (associated with mucocutaneous candidiasis)
