
Apthous ulcers
These are extremely painful ulcers of unknown etiology. They are associated with diseases like Crohns disease and celiac disease.
Local anesthetic ointment is soothing before a meal. Tetracycline may be of some help in the early stage.
Whenever you see one on a surface other than the buccal (like in the picture below), think of other possibilities like Behcet's.
