Erythema nodosum

Note the bilaterality of the lesions. They are almost symmetrically distributed and are PAINFUL and TENDER. These are associated with many chronic disorders. Typical questions revolve around sarcoidosis where it is described as part of Lofgren's syndrome (a good prognosis syndrome "Lofgren's can laugh") consisting of E. nodosum, arthritis and perihilar lymphadenopathy.

The picture of the hands is from a patient who had Coccidiodomycosis. She had travelled to California (California - Coccidioido & Missisipi - Histoplasmosis).
