Second degree burn
Blistering is a clear cut sign of 2nd degree burn. Around it one can see dark skin. The dark areas had sensation preserved. They are areas of first degree burns. Third degree burns have no sensation left in them as the full thickness of the skin is damaged. The first step in any burn is to cool the area as most of the damage occurs in the phase after the sudden heat exposure. The bacteria notorious for getting burn surfaces are Pseudomonas and Staph. The dressing of choice is Silver sulfadiazine (Silvadine®) but remember that it can leave a stain on the skin which may never come off.
