Coronary artery disease:

Secondary prevention - after the occurence of the disease but before any symptoms occur.

1. Antiplatelet medication: Aspirin - 75 mg ("Baby Aspirin") is as effective as a full aspirin (325mg).

In those patients who cannot take ASA, Clopidogrel (Plavix - 75mg) is as effective but much more expensive.

Anticoagulants too have a similar benefit but more hemorrhagic complications.

Addition of anticoagulants to antiplatelet treatment gives no additional benefit.

2. Beta blockers: Reduce all cause mortality, coronary mortality, non fatal MI and sudden death.
